7월 29일 구름 속에서 무엇을 봅니까?
볼찌어다 그가 구름을 타고 오시리라 (계1:7)
성경에서 구름은 언제나 하나님과 관련됩니다. 구름은 하나님의 통치에 반항하는 듯한 우리 개인 생활의 안팎에서 일어나는 슬픔, 고통, 궁핍의 상황들입니다. 하나님의 영은 이 구름을 통해 우리에게 어떻게 믿음으로 걸을 수 있는가를 가르치십니다. 만일 구름이 없다면 우리에게 믿음도 없을 것입니다. “구름은 단지 우리 하늘 아버지의 발의 티끌이로다”나1:3 구름은 주님께서 그곳에 계시다는 증표입니다. 슬픔과 사별과 고통이 하나님과 함께 오는 구름이라는 사실은 얼마나 귀한 계시입니까! 하나님께서는 구름 없이는 우리에게 가까이 오실 수 없습니다. 그분은 청명하게 비치는 가운데 오지 않으십니다.
하나님께서 고난 속에서 우리에게 뭔가를 가르치기를 원하신다고 말하는 것은 옳지 않습니다. 주님께서는 모든 구름을 통해 우리가 배웠던 것을 ‘버리기’를 원하십니다. 구름을 통한 하나님의 목적은 주님과 우리의 관계가 정확하게 어린아이처럼 될 때까지 우리의 믿음을 단순하게 하기 위한 것입니다. 오직 중심은 하나님과 나만의 관계요, 다른 사람들은 그림자일 뿐입니다. 다른 사람들이 그림자가 될 때까지는 구름과 어둠은 언제나 나에게 임할 것이며 다시 찾아올 것입니다. 과연 나 자신과 하나님의 관계가 과거 그 어느 때보다 점점 더 단순해지고 있습니까?
하나님의 이해할 수 없는 섭리와 우리가 하나님을 아는 것 사이에는 어떤 연관이 있습니다. 하나님을 아는 우리의 지식에 비추어 인생의 신비들을 해석하는 것을 배워야 합니다. 가장 어둡고 암담한 현실을 직접 대하면서도 하나님의 성품을 의심하지 않을 수 있을 때까지는, 아직 우리는 하나님을 모르는 것입니다. “구름 속으로 들어갈 때에 그들이 무서워하더니...”눅9:34 당신의 구름 속에서 “오직 예수님만”이 아니라 다른 사람도 보입니까? 그렇다면 더 어두워질 것입니다. 당신은 “오직 예수님 외에는 다른 아무도 보이지 않는 곳”으로 가야만 합니다.
Do You See Jesus in Your Clouds?

Behold, He is coming with clouds… —Revelation 1:7
In the Bible clouds are always associated with God. Clouds are the sorrows, sufferings, or providential circumstances, within or without our personal lives, which actually seem to contradict the sovereignty of God. Yet it is through these very clouds that the Spirit of God is teaching us how to walk by faith. If there were never any clouds in our lives, we would have no faith. “The clouds are the dust of His feet” (Nahum 1:3). They are a sign that God is there. What a revelation it is to know that sorrow, bereavement, and suffering are actually the clouds that come along with God! God cannot come near us without clouds— He does not come in clear-shining brightness.
It is not true to say that God wants to teach us something in our trials. Through every cloud He brings our way, He wants us to unlearn something. His purpose in using the cloud is to simplify our beliefs until our relationship with Him is exactly like that of a child— a relationship simply between God and our own souls, and where other people are but shadows. Until other people become shadows to us, clouds and darkness will be ours every once in a while. Is our relationship with God becoming more simple than it has ever been?
There is a connection between the strange providential circumstances allowed by God and what we know of Him, and we have to learn to interpret the mysteries of life in the light of our knowledge of God. Until we can come face to face with the deepest, darkest fact of life without damaging our view of God’s character, we do not yet know Him.
“…they were fearful as they entered the cloud” (Luke 9:34). Is there anyone except Jesus in your cloud? If so, it will only get darker until you get to the place where there is “no one anymore, but only Jesus …” (Mark 9:8; also see Mark 2:7).
