7월 30일 허상을 제거하는 훈련
예수는 그의 몸을 그들에게 의탁하지 아니하셨으니... 친히 사람의 속에 있는 것을 아셨음이니라 (요2:24-25)
허상을 제거한다는 것은 삶 속에서 더 이상 잘못된 판단이 없게 되는 것을 의미합니다. 허상에 속게 되면 우리는 냉소적인 사람이 되거나 다른 사람을 판단하는 데 야박할 정도로 거칠게 됩니다. 그러나 하나님의 도움으로 허상을 제거하게 되면 우리는 사람들을 그들 모습 그대로 보게 됩니다. 냉소함도 사라지고 날카롭거나 거친 말도 하지 않게 됩니다. 삶 속에서 발생하는 잔인한 많은 일은 우리가 허상을 보는 병에 걸려 있기 때문에 일어납니다. 우리는 서로를 향해 상대의 실제 모습대로 대하지 않습니다. 우리는 다른 사람을 향한 내 생각에 따라 그들을 대할 뿐입니다. 내 생각에 따라 모든 것이 기쁘거나 좋을 수 있고 형편없거나 못날 수 있습니다.
허상을 제거하는 것을 거부함으로 인생사의 많은 고통을 야기시켰습니다. 예를 들면 우리가 사람을 사랑하고 하나님을 사랑하지 않는다고 할 경우 우리는 사람에게서 모든 완벽을 기대하고 모든 철저함을 요구합니다. 이때 사람에게서 원하는 것을 얻지 못하면 우리는 잔인해지고 악감정을 품게 됩니다. 우리는 어리석게 그 사람이 줄 수 없는 것을 요구하는 것입니다. 인간 심층의 깊은 요구를 만족시킬 수 있는 분은 오직 ‘그분’ 주 예수 그리스도밖에 없으십니다. 주님께서 모든 인간관계에 관해 그토록 분명하게 엄격하신 이유는 주님을 향한 충성에 서 있지 못한 모든 인간관계는 결국 비극으로 끝날 것을 아시기 때문입니다. 주님은 아무도 신뢰하지 않으셨습니다. 하나님에 대한 확신과 주의 은혜, 사람의 한계에 대한 확신이 너무나 완벽하셔서 주님은 누구에게도 절망을 느끼신 적이 없습니다. 만일 우리의 신뢰가 사람에게 있다면 우리는 모든 사람에게 절망하게 될 것입니다.
The Teaching of Disillusionment

Jesus did not commit Himself to them…, for He knew what was in man. —John 2:24-25
Disillusionment means having no more misconceptions, false impressions, and false judgments in life; it means being free from these deceptions. However, though no longer deceived, our experience of disillusionment may actually leave us cynical and overly critical in our judgment of others. But the disillusionment that comes from God brings us to the point where we see people as they really are, yet without any cynicism or any stinging and bitter criticism. Many of the things in life that inflict the greatest injury, grief, or pain, stem from the fact that we suffer from illusions. We are not true to one another as facts, seeing each other as we really are; we are only true to our misconceived ideas of one another. According to our thinking, everything is either delightful and good, or it is evil, malicious, and cowardly.
Refusing to be disillusioned is the cause of much of the suffering of human life. And this is how that suffering happens— if we love someone, but do not love God, we demand total perfection and righteousness from that person, and when we do not get it we become cruel and vindictive; yet we are demanding of a human being something which he or she cannot possibly give. There is only one Being who can completely satisfy to the absolute depth of the hurting human heart, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Lord is so obviously uncompromising with regard to every human relationship because He knows that every relationship that is not based on faithfulness to Himself will end in disaster. Our Lord trusted no one, and never placed His faith in people, yet He was never suspicious or bitter. Our Lord’s confidence in God, and in what God’s grace could do for anyone, was so perfect that He never despaired, never giving up hope for any person. If our trust is placed in human beings, we will end up despairing of everyone.
