1월 2일 알지 못하는 길을 가겠는가?
“아브라함은... 갈 바를 알지 못하고 나아갔으며”(히 11:8)
갈 바를 모르면서 길을 나선 적이 있습니까? 그럴 때 누군가 당신에게 “지금 뭐하는 겁니까?” 묻는다면 논리적인 대답을 할 수 없을 것입니다. 그리스도인에게 대답하기 어려운 질문 중 하나는 “무엇을 하실 것입니까?”입니다. 무엇을 하게 될지 당신은 모릅니다. 아는 것이 있다면 단지 하나님은 그분이 할 일을 아신다는 사실입니다. 삶의 모든 영역에서 하나님을 전적으로 신뢰하며 선뜻 ‘나설’ 수 있는지 항상 자신을 점검하십시오. 우리는 하나님이 또 무슨 일을 하실지 모르기 때문에 날마다 경이로운 마음으로 살아갑니다. 아침에 일어나면 하나님에 대한 확신으로 ‘나아가야’하는 새로운 기회가 펼쳐집니다. “...너희 목숨을 위하여...몸을 위하여...염려하지 말라:(눅 12:22) 나아가기 전에 염려했던 일들은 다 잊으십시오.
무슴일을 하실지 하나님께 물은 적이 있습니까? 말씀해 주시지 않을 것입니다. 대신 하나님은 자신이 누구인지 보여 주십니다. 기적을 행하시는 하나님을 믿습니까? 그분이 하시는 어떤 일에도 놀라지 않게 되기까지 온전히 순종하며 나아가고자 합니까?
하나님은 당신이 하나님께 가장 가까이 있을 때 봤던 그 모습 그대로 변함없으십니다. 이 사실을 믿으십시오. 그렇기에 걱정이란 부질없고 경건하지 못한 것입니다. 하나님을 의지하며 계속해서 나아가는 삶의 태도를 유지하십시오. 그런 생활은 예수님으로 만족하는 신성한 매력을 갖게 될 것입니다. 아무도 하나님과 당신 사이를 가로막지 못하는 믿음에 이를 때까지, 확신이나 신조나 경험을 초월하여 나아가는 것을 배워야 합니다.

January 2 Will You Go Out Without Knowing?
He went out, not knowing where he was going. —Hebrews 11:8
Have you ever “gone out” in this way? If so, there is no logical answer possible when anyone asks you what you are doing. One of the most difficult questions to answer in Christian work is, “What do you expect to do?” You don’t know what you are going to do. The only thing you know is that God knows what He is doing. Continually examine your attitude toward God to see if you are willing to “go out” in every area of your life, trusting in God entirely. It is this attitude that keeps you in constant wonder, because you don’t know what God is going to do next. Each morning as you wake, there is a new opportunity to “go out,” building your confidence in God. “…do not worry about your life…nor about the body…” (Luke 12:22). In other words, don’t worry about the things that concerned you before you did “go out.”
Have you been asking God what He is going to do? He will never tell you. God does not tell you what He is going to do— He reveals to you who He is. Do you believe in a miracle-working God, and will you “go out” in complete surrender to Him until you are not surprised one iota by anything He does?
Believe God is always the God you know Him to be when you are nearest to Him. Then think how unnecessary and disrespectful worry is! Let the attitude of your life be a continual willingness to “go out” in dependence upon God, and your life will have a sacred and inexpressible charm about it that is very satisfying to Jesus. You must learn to “go out” through your convictions, creeds, or experiences until you come to the point in your faith where there is nothing between yourself and God.
