2월 14일 듣는 훈련
"내가 너희에게 어두운 데서 이르는 것을 광명한 데서 말하며 너희가 귓속으로 듣는 것을 집 위에서 전파하라"(마 10:27).
하나님은 때때로 우리의 귀를 하나님께 향하게 하시려고 어둠의 훈련을 거치게 하십니다. 노래하는 새가 어둠 속에서 노래를 배우는 것같이, 하나님은 우리를 그분 손 그늘 아래 두셔서 경청 훈련을 받도록 하십니다. 하나님이 우리에게 "어두운 데서 이르는 것"을 조심하십시오. 하나님이 당신을 어둠 속에 두시면 조심하고 입을 다물어야 합니다. 주위 형편을 살펴보십시오. 지금 당신은 어둠 속에 있습니까 아니면 하나님과 함께 있습니까? 어둠 속에 있다면 침묵하십시오. 어둠 속에서 입을 열면 분명 그릇된 분위기에서 말하게 될 것 입니다. 어둠 속에서는 귀 기울여 들어야 합니다. 다른 사람에게 이야기할 것 도 없고 책을 통해서 어둠에 처한 이유를 알아내려 하지도 마십시오. 귀를 기울여 듣기만 하며 순종하십시오. 이야기하면 하나님의 말씀을 들을 수 없습니다. 어둠 속에 있을 때는 귀를 기울이십시오. 하나님은 당신이 밝은 곳으로 들어갈 때 다른 사람에게 전해 줄 귀한 메시지를 주실 것입니다.
어둠의 때가 지나고 나면 기쁨과 수치를 함께 경험합니다. 만약 기쁨만 느낀다면 먼저 당신이 하나님의 음성을 정말 들었는지 묻고 싶습니다. 하나님이 주신 말씀을 들으면 한없이 기쁘지만, 그러나 그 음성을 듣기까지 그토록 오랜 시간이 걸렸다는 사실에 부끄러움을 금치 못합니다! 그때 우리는 통탄할 것입니다. 하나님이 늘 해 오신 말씀을 알아듣는데 어쩌면 이렇게 더딜 수 있단 말인가! 하나님은 며칠 몇 주씩 말씀해 오셨던 것입니다. 이런 후회와 수치심은 당신의 마음을 순화시켜 앞으로는 하나님께 항상 귀를 기울여 경청하게 하는 은혜가 될 것입니다.

February 14 The Discipline of Hearing
Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. —Matthew 10:27
Sometimes God puts us through the experience and discipline of darkness to teach us to hear and obey Him. Song birds are taught to sing in the dark, and God puts us into “the shadow of His hand” until we learn to hear Him (Isaiah 49:2). “Whatever I tell you in the dark…” — pay attention when God puts you into darkness, and keep your mouth closed while you are there. Are you in the dark right now in your circumstances, or in your life with God? If so, then remain quiet. If you open your mouth in the dark, you will speak while in the wrong mood— darkness is the time to listen. Don’t talk to other people about it; don’t read books to find out the reason for the darkness; just listen and obey. If you talk to other people, you cannot hear what God is saying. When you are in the dark, listen, and God will give you a very precious message for someone else once you are back in the light.
After every time of darkness, we should experience a mixture of delight and humiliation. If there is only delight, I question whether we have really heard God at all. We should experience delight for having heard God speak, but mostly humiliation for having taken so long to hear Him! Then we will exclaim, “How slow I have been to listen and understand what God has been telling me!” And yet God has been saying it for days and even weeks. But once you hear Him, He gives you the gift of humiliation, which brings a softness of heart— a gift that will always cause you to listen to God now.
